My 2012 Goals

I will dare to say nearly everyone has some idea of how they want 2012 to progress. I am no different and had my plan/goals finalized in October of 2011.

2012 for me actually has a balance between personal and business goals. They’re both big and push me to the max :)

Personal Goals for 2012

I will share with you one personal goal I have for the New Year.

  • I will no longer hang on to  people who do not bring value through social media.

At first, I know, it sounds like a normal goal. It may ever sound odd for those of you who know me personally because I always advocate letting go a dead weight, people who hold you back, or belittle your goals and dreams. It’s the “through social media”  that really makes this goal for me.

Obviously I love social media (SM) but I noticed that I had begun to hang on to people who aren’t bring any value to my Timeline and Feeds. I’m making excuses for them just like someone would for a personal friend who isn’t adding value to their life. WHY? I wouldn’t let them go. I would say it was because of a project we worked on or a project we were going to talk about or we did a class together. So what lol

Your Timeline and Feed take up visual and mental space just like the time you spend with a friend does. It got to the point that I hated checking my Facebook account. I never wanted to see my message box. That’s crazy. I shouldn’t be fearful of The Facebook because of people who don’t know how to market properly.

Thankfully, Facebook has the lovely Unsubscribe button. That doesn’t fix the bigger issue but it’s a start and it cuts out the stress of annoyance in my life.

Business Goals for 2012

  • Launch Loving Life

My biggest goal for the year is to help more people. Because a lot of my work is based on work with individuals that meant I had to leverage my time, skill, and accessibility.

I’m happy to announce the up coming launch of Loving Life! My dream for Loving Life is to create a place that would allow amazing women from all over the world to re-connect and love themselves. But its much more than just self-love. Its about cultivating and expressing a love for life… and all it has to offer. And I mean ALL… the good, bad, and ugly!

The pre-launch sign-up is available, with an affiliate opportunity on to those on the pre-launch list. >> Loving Life

  • Offer More Free Training

I love teaching. It’s that simple :) I already offered free training throughout the year, but now it will be written into my business plan for each year. It’s a big relief to me mentally knowing when my courses will be all year long. Besides, showing people simple skills can make a world of a difference in their life, so why not?

  • Participate In More Panels

This ties to the fact that I love teaching and showing people how to do things. I find that I process things either the complete opposite of everyone else or in a way that can make it easy for others to comprehend. Panels allow participants to pick your brain but also for you to get an objective view of how you view and comprehend things in your world.

I will keep everyone updated on the dates and times of panels and speaking engagements through my Facebook Page and Newsletter.

There are several more but I’d like to know, what is one thing you’re looking forward to in 2012?

  1. Having your goals set in October for January is a bit unique. Focusing on 2 main goals is a great way to start

    • I mentioned, I have more goals but only mentioned a few. Can’t let all the secrets out the bag at once ;) Thanks for the comment Joel!

  2. I have an idea of my goals for the following year when I carry out my third quarter review but they are never really set in stone at that point, I usually firm them up in the last two weeks of December and then make the SMART at the start of January. I find this process gives me a little more thinking time to make sure that the goals are realistic can be focused on in my current business environment.

Love the simplicity of your goals. I’m not quite sure how I feel about the SM one. I unsubscribe frequently to feeds that are spamming me or adding no value but I would never disconnect a connection that I actually had bona fide connection with i.e. we worked on a project together, we are considering a collaboration or we took a class together. Connections may not appear valuable today but they might be that golden nugget sometime in the future. There is no harm for them to be in your environment and you may yet still derive some benefit from them, directly, or from broadcasting out to their connections.

Nice set of goals, wishing you luck with Loving Life…

    • Hi Kittie,

You feel the same way I did about those who I had a connection with that were spamming. We had a connection and that’s why I kept them. But do I really want to work with someone who is doing the exact opposite of the principles I teach my clients? I work in social media marketing. That’s why it’s an issue for me.

I don’t goals have to be deep and complex to have major changes in your life. It’s all about what you want and want to go. Keep those in sight and anything is possible.

      Thanks for the comment!

  4. Monyelle,

I think it’s a very good idea to not waste time on the social sites.
Most of the marketers I come across on Twitter for instance can’t stop shoveling their affiliate links into my face about a hundred times a day. To me that’s not marketing ( it’s more like fishing with dynamite in en empty lake. :) ) It is just plain dumb.

I’m wishing you the best for 2011!
